Last year Your Creative Juices did a really cute valentine countdown using a muffin tin.
The thing was…I didn’t want to go out and buy a muffin tin. I have one, but I didn’t want to use the one I cook with…I mean…it’s not exactly “Put out as decor and let everyone see it!”
I LOVED it though so, I went and bought two six muffin tins from the dollar store. The plan was to tie the the tins together so that they could hang.
AWESOME!
Well, then… I had this brilliant idea to spray paint them pink too!
Yeah, that lasted like two seconds…
it’s cold here in Utah and I don’t want to wait forever for the paint to dry.
OK..so I won’t paint them, no biggie.
Then I get into my scrapbook paper stash and I don’t have any “Valentine-y” cute paper.
Seriously?!
So, I put the tins and the candy that I picked up at Winco in one of my craft drawer cubbie things…for another day.
Well..fast forward to “another day.” I am in the dollar store.
I see these cute valentine ziploc bags.
Then I remember that I have a bunch of different bags that I picked up at Target last year on clearance after Valentine’s Day for $.10.
Nifty Thrifty Things made a super cute advent calendar at Christmas time using clothes pins and paper bags.
So, I picked up the clothespins came home and opened the drawer that I stuck the candy and tins into and saw that I already had tins!
THAT I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT!
Really? Please tell me that I’m not the only one who has done this!?
The tins are now being saved for “another day” again.
OK, so….
Here’s my version of the two put together!
Here’s what I did!
1. All the supplies:
2. Printed the numbers from Your Creative Juices cut them out with a 1 1/2 inch circle punch
3. Some of the numbers were closer together so they weren’t a perfect circle. I cut out scrapbook paper circles to put behind them.
4. I used pink paper and cut out 1 1/2″ X 3″ rectangle pieces
5. I took my bags and cut them down to 7″
6. These are what they looked like smaller
7. I took two glitter Styrofoam hearts that I pulled off of the plastic stem (from the dollar store) and used my glue gun to glue them to the tops of the pins that would hold the ribbon/bags up. Where the stems “used” to be, I used a dab of glue and added glitter so you couldn’t see the Styrofoam.
8. The bags all cut, numbers glued on, and embellished and ADD THE CANDY!
9. I used modpodge to glue the clothes pins to the scrapbook paper. When it was dry, I cut around the paper, lightly sanded the edges, tied a brown ribbon on seven of them and a pink one onto the other seven.
( I wanted to alternate the colors.
I folded the tops of the paper bags down about a inch, and then used the clothes pins to hang them
I found the cute “hugs and kisses” ribbon at the dollar store and I wanted to be sure that I could see that cuteness, so I put the folded top of the bag behind the ribbon when I pined it.
I kinda liked how it turned out!
What do you think?
This is the part I usually don’t show you guys.
Oh, boy….
Have a great day!

That is so cute. I haven't even begun to think about Valentine's Day, so you're ahead in my book.
