A Kissing Ball!

April 5, 2011

Hi Guys! Welcome to “Tutorial Tuesday!” I am super excited to show you how I made these! I did a red one with roses for Valentine’s Day, it turned out great and then when I put it away, the desk I had it on looked so bare!
I wanted something that could fit in the space and look kinda rustic old,and classy at the same time. I found something…again just a random blog hop and I don’t know exactly where I saw it, So if YOU came up with this AWESOME idea please let me know, so I can give YOU the proper credit!
(Yes, I know…I’m such a copycat…but you all make such cute stuff!)

So what you need is:

– Old book that you can cut up
– A ball of some sort
– Pencil
– Glue Gun
I started by cutting the book pages in 2 inch squares.
I used my Fiskars cutter, but you could just freehand it with scissors.  I’m sure if they aren’t perfectly square it will still turn out! (Sorry, I did this before I started taking pictures.)
You can use Styrofoam balls, ping pong balls almost  any round shaped thing you want.  I used a Christmas ornament that I had left over from making my Spring Decor Balls found here , so  I just used it!  It was a plastic ornament that I just popped off the top that holds the hook!  It worked perfect!
Put the pencil in the center of the paper and fold over so it makes a triangle.
Do it with the other side..bring the corners all a point around the pencil
Dab some Glue on the ball and stick the paper onto it using the pencil …hold for just a sec…
and this is what it will look like!

This is what it will look like..as you get going.  The closer together that you keep the paper the fuller it will look and then you won’t see gaps either!

This is what it should look like when you get finished!

Ahhhh…Just what my little desk needed!  LOVE IT!

What do you think?

Oh, and just in case you wondering…I got the book at the thrift store (DI) for .$75
I  already had everything else!  So it only cost $.75! YAY!
