I need to preface this by saying that I KNOW Rae Dunn is becoming a thing of the past, but you guys, I still like her pieces! I had written this post a few years ago and never published it. As I was reading it I decided to go ahead and share it, because it has some good info. and it is how I decorate and maybe it can help some of you. Whether you still use Rae or not!
A Rae Dunn Lover Lives Here
When you come into my home, it is no secret that I am in love with ANYTHING Rae Dunn! Seriously, simple and cute pieces that you can use, or just decorate with.
Today I am sharing a little Rae Dunn decor that can be found in my office space on top of my desk.
WHERE CAN I FIND DECOR
This SPRAY Rae Dunn piece I found at TJ MAXX. I paid about $12.99 for mine. If you google “Rae Dunn Spray” You will be able to find places where you can purchase one of your own. They range anywhere from $13-$30.
You guys, I bought it for decoration purposes, but my little Mr. picked it up and before I could say, “Dude, that is MY decorations!” He was undoing the lid and saying, “Mom, this thing could really work!” “Look!” as he was pushing the spray button down. Well, then, of course, I had to give it a try…I think he’s right!
So, Rae, if you by chance EVER read my little ole’ blog, does your SPRAY ceramic thingy really work?
YOUR STYLE
Ok, so back to the decor… You can add anything you’d like. Use various heights and shapes. Play around with it until you get the desired look you have in mind. Style things the way you like it! Find your own style!
Don’t be afraid to “shop” your house for cute things to add. I am notorious for doing this! The cute lamb’s ear plant that you added to a space in the kitchen for Christmas, will be perfect in the office for a summer vignette!
HOW I STYLED MY DESK
I picked the books up from a thrift store, many many years ago. I look for old ones, The more yellow or uneven the pages are, the better!
I stacked them on top of each other and then tied them together with some jute string. I bought the little red truck years ago at Ross for around $12. Who knew this cutie would become so big in the future? I took a ball jar filled it with some lamb’s ear and tied some more jute around the top. I found this candle holder and a second-hand store and repainted it white. The kissing balls were made out of an old book. LOVE these!
The book with the glasses belonged to my Great Grandfather. It is his scriptures and reading glasses. I added a buffalo check bow and a piece of lamb’s ear to tie it into the rest. I am so in love with the way this turned out. I am so thankful that I inherited this piece, it is humbling and amazing!
