This farmhouse snowflake is made with mostly dollar store supplies!
Oh. My. Gosh!
Is this not the cutest farmhouse style snowflake you have ever seen!?
I saw a tutorial from The daily DIYer. Oh, my gosh. If you are crushing on this wreath, you will definitely binge-watch her channel because everything on it is amazing…especially if you like farmhouse decor!
I totally had to have one for my home and when I saw this. I stalked the dollar tree until they got a new shipment of these little trees. I ended up making one for my mother in law, and TWO for myself.
Yes, I am that in love with them!
The best thing…this wreath cost me around $10.00 to make!
The supplies
- SIX dollar store Christmas trees.
- Wire
- Berry pick
- 2 Berry pick with pinecones and cotton
- Not pictured:
- White Chalk Paint/ Sponge brush
- Glue gun/ Glue sticks
- Black and white Buffalo Check Ribbon (Hobby Lobby 50%off for Christmas)
- Scissors
How it’s made!
Start by taking the trees from the boxes. remove the plastic base from the bottom so the metal is exposed.
Take two of the trees and place the metal ends together and then wrap some wire around them, TIGHTLY! Then run hot glue over the wire for extra support.
Criss Cross the center of 2 of the trees making an “X” and then use the wire and wrap it around the metal center. Take the 3rd and connect to the two already connected making a snowflake. Secure with the wire until it does not move and you feel it is secure enough. You then use hot glue again for extra security.
Then, while the snowflake is laying flat, spread the branches to make it nice and full. It should look like this!
Next, white chalk paint and using a sponge paintbrush paint it on the trees to look like snow.
Make a bow using the buffalo check ribbon.
how to make the bow
Make a circle round and then loop back and forth five times. Make sure they are even, secure the center with more wire and then fluff out the bow and hot glue it to the center of the snowflake.
She also has a great video on how to make bows. It can be found here!
Cut off three stems of the berries and then hot glue the berries, the cotton, and pinecones how you like them.
Umm.. Can I just say love…L.O.V.E!
This is how it looks on my front door. I’m thinking I will be getting a swag with pretty lights to go around the door.
::UPDATED::
I added some more decor to the front door. A pine cone swag with white lights. I used outdoor command hooks, which after many tries and lots of alcohol to clean the door frame, FINALLY worked. As I am looking at these pictures, I notice the swag is a little off on the right side. I just needed to straighten the swag in the middle to have it go all the way to the corner and fluff the greenery.
So…make sure you do that part!
Some dollar store trees. It would be super cute with burlap around the tree bottoms…
Yes, or galvanized buckets with the trees placed in them would be super cute also!
Simple, inexpensive additions that make this look a little more put together.
I’m kinda liking it, ok…maybe loving it!
What do you think?
