Rae Dunn. ‘Nuff said.
She is the inspiration for my farmhouse signs. I have seen these farmhouse sins all over Pinterest and I had to try my hand at it. The interchangeable part was kinda an accident, but a good one!
Valentine’s Day kicked off the farmhouse sign decor.
I wanted,
NO… NEEDED to make some signs for my mantle. Of course, Pinterest had a solution.
More specifically. Kierste at Old Salt Farm had it. Her farmhouse decor is classy, and one of the best around!
I followed her tutorial. Everything was going great until, well, I uh…..
I cut the centerpiece of the board a little too short so then I wasn’t going to beable to glue and nail it together.
Crap!
OK, so, I told myself, “Go with the flow, Kirst”. Imperfections can be perfections.
I was going to make this work!!! I sanded and cut it enough to slide into the center of the frame. I was going to make these interchangeable!
what supplies do i need?
- 1 X 8″ Wood furring strip
- Minwax Wood stain
- Saw or Home Depot will cut them for you!
- 1 X 8″ board
- White paint
- Wood Glue
- Nails
- Hammer
- Sandpaper
- Vinyl or stickers
I bought the furring strip from home depot. You can buy one Here They are under $1.50 for an 8 ft. piece. AND you can make quite a few frames with one!
makes two 6 X 4″ frames
- Cut 4- 6″ pieces. These are for the top and bottom
- Cut 4- 4″ pieces These are for the sides
- The pine board is cut to about 5-3/4 X 3-3/4 (so it can fit in the frame)
The stain color i used is Minwax Early American 230
valentine signs : XOXO and kisses
st. Patrick’s day signs: blessed and lucky
easter signs: Follow the bunny he has the chocolate and hippity hoppity
summer : when life gives you lemons and fresh squeezed lemonade
What I love the most, is that you can make multiple ones.
AND you can make them permanent or not! The choice is yours!
