The Best Big,Fat Chocolate Chip Cookies

March 24, 2011

Oh, Chocolate Chip Cookies…I love the way they make my house smell!  My Sweet Sister hooked me up with this really great cookbook, her neighborhood put it together and she asked me if I wanted one? Umm…let me think…Yes!  So, she ended up getting one for herself, our mom, and me. Can I just tell you that I LOVE this book!  Truly, this is my go to book when I don’t know what to make for dinner and it has been a lifesaver.  It is Chockfull of great recipes that are not only yummy but super simple to make! My kind-of recipes! (I promise I have more fave’s that will share!) Anyway, One batch makes a bunch of really BIG cookies.( I usually will use a 1/4 C. measuring cup and portion the cookies out and freeze some so that I can just thaw and cook later, they freeze really well) These are the best ones I have tried so far..Really…my sweetie asks me Not to make them too often because he can’t just eat one!   They are so delicious you gotta try them!

Printable Chocolate Chip Recipe

The best big, fat, chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 C. all-purpose flour                   ½ c. white sugar
½ tsp. baking soda                     1 Tbsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt                           1 egg
¾ c. unsalted butter (1-1/2 cubes)       1 egg yolk
1 c. packed brown sugar                2 C. chocolate chips (1 bag)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Grease cookie sheets or line it With parchment paper.  Mix together flour, baking soda, salt. Set aside.  In medium bowl, cream together melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended.  Beat in vanilla, egg, egg yolk until light and creamy.  Mix in dry ingredients until just blended.  Stir in chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.  Drop cookie dough ¼ c. at a time onto the cookie sheets.  Cookies should be 3 inches apart.  Bake for 15-17 minutes.  Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a rack to cool.

                                                  Mmmm….Happy Chocolate Chip Baking!
