I first saw these at Everything I Love and More I took her idea and tweaked it to make it my own. For Halloween I filled them with candy corn, Christmas: Hershey Kisses and Valentine’s Day: The fun Valentine candy corn then by St. Patrick’s Day I decided I wanted them to be used for the decorations instead.
Me Buying Candy + Eating Too Much= Not so good!
What you need to make your own is:
– 3 Canisters
– 3 Finials
– Paint of your choice
– 3 candle stick holders
– E6000 glue
The canisters I got at Hobby Lobby, Can I just say “LOVE THAT PLACE!” The finials were at Hobby Lobby also. You can get the candlesticks there too or just search the thrift store (like I did). These are so simple to make, all I did was paint the jar lids, finials and candle sticks with black paint. Re-painted over them with a tan color, when they were dry I sanded them everywhere I wanted the black to peek through so they looked kinda rustic. The Finials came with a little piece of wood attached to it. You can either drill a hole in the top of your lid to stick it into, or do what I did… just cut that thing off! Then I used the E6000 glue, glued it to the top of the lid, and then glued the canisters to the candle sticks….TA-DA!
Here they are decked out for Easter and St. Patrick’s Day! What do you think?
